Fixing stuff around myself

I was given an activity to start working on myself , and my leadership skills. I was asked to start from fixing random things around myself that I haven’t noticed before or haven’t tried to fix before. I liked this idea because when you start from fixing small things and it actually creates a little impact then this gives motivation and satisfaction.

I readily accepted doing this task and actually started working on little things. To add, I usually do small things like fixing my bed, cooking sometimes, pressing clothes, polishing shoes, and somewhere helping my mother in households. This time I wanted to do something different that was going smoothly in my routine but I never tried to fix before. I tried figuring out a lot of things but I couldn’t think of any at that time.

After starting my daily routine from the morning, I regularly go to gym and that is where I found the actual thing that needed to be fixed but I hadn’t taken any initiative to fix it before. The scattered dumbbells!

Scattered dumbbells (Before)

After going to gym, I always notice these scattered dumbbells but I just pick the one that I need and leave the others as they are. I organize the ones that I used in the end but leave others as such. This time I thought why not just before starting the exercise, I organize all these dumbbells and it will be easier for other people to pick the ones they need.

Organized dumbbells (After)

I organized these dumbbells and it looked great! After all, it was my one step towards changing myself for better. I felt really happy doing it and I thought it may have a little but still have a positive impact. I wouldn’t have done it if I wasn’t asked to do small things that really do matter.

Second thing that I did was at the end of my day before going to bed. I drink milk everyday and for that I need to go to kitchen before going to sleep. When I entered the kitchen, I noticed that all dishes were put by my mother in the sink and the dishes were used. She usually wash these dishes but this day, she wasn’t feeling very well so she might have thought to wash dishes in the morning.

Used dishes (Before)

I thought that if my mother can wash all these dishes and she has to start her day from this why can’t I wash it now? I just thought of helping my mother because she has to get up in the morning, wash the dishes , and then prepare breakfast for the whole family. I started washing the dishes and I felt so good about it because I was actually trying to help my mother out only by doing a small work.

Clean dishes (After)

I washed all the dishes and then placed it where it needed to be. This was only a summary of fixing small things in a day. I would have done the same even if I wasn’t asked in an activity. I usually help my mother out in households.

After doing these, I really got motivated that if so much can be done in a day what can be done in a long time. If I start fixing things around myself, it actually can help build up my personality and my leadership skills. From now onwards, I will look into fixing small things that I am able to.
